Program Description

The sociology of disaster asks why floods, earthquakes and other hazards affect communities so unevenly, and how people, institutions and states prepare, respond and recover. Vulnerability, inequality, risk communication and rebuilding are recurring themes. Graduates often work in emergency planning, humanitarian agencies, government, insurance and research.
