Program Description

Fire safety looks at how fires start and spread, and how buildings, systems and people can be protected. Students study combustion and fire dynamics, detection and suppression, evacuation behaviour, materials, and methods for assessing and reducing risk. Graduates often work in fire engineering consultancy, building design, risk assessment or safety management.
