Program Description

Optical engineering designs systems that work with light: lenses, lasers, fibres, sensors, cameras and displays, from the physics of how light behaves to the tolerances of a manufactured instrument. Simulation, alignment and laboratory measurement are everyday work. Graduates often move into photonics, imaging, telecommunications, medical devices, defence and semiconductor industries.
