Northeastern University is a private university based in Boston, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1896 as the Evening Institute for Younger Men by the Boston YMCA. It became the Northeastern University in 1922 and began admitting women after World War II before separating from the YMCA in 1948. It features a ‘co-op’ education program with a mixture of classroom and professional experience through partnerships with businesses around the world. It has more than 27,000 students including 20,000 international students, making it one of the biggest universities for students from more than 147 countries to come and study. Northeastern University has ranked in the top 100 national universities in lists from Forbes, Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report and Washington Monthly. It’s also in the top 200 global universities according to the Times Higher Education list and US News & World Report.
