Program Description

Roman society, politics, warfare and empire — from the republic through the long imperial period — form the focus here, studied through literary sources, inscriptions, coins and excavated remains. Students learn source criticism and how to argue from incomplete evidence. Graduates often move into heritage and museums, teaching, research, archives and writing.
